kpn It's a different style that I find addicting. Definitely one of my favorite albums and I'm happy I chanced upon it. Favorite track: And maybe you weren't expecting to find anything right from the start....

about

"In town, there's a tiny beach that's never busy, not even in the middle of summer.
I used to like walking there, looking for stuff.
Like old fireworks.
Or kelp.
A hat knocked off someone's head by the wind.
You basically never find what you were expecting to.
And maybe you weren't expecting to find anything right from the start..."

Inspired by Inio Asano's うみべの女の子, "And maybe you weren't expecting to find anything right from the start" is a cinematic experience, filled with rich and emotive production. From the Dilla-style hip-hop of "gone" and "two moles" to the intimate guitar of "gather the wind," "And maybe" tells the complex and dynamic story of two young people haunted by their own regrets.

A concept album through-and-through, "And maybe" exists as something both lofty and accessible, toeing the line between powerful experimental excursions (like the title track), and moments of unbridled beauty, (lead single "I wanted to be you").
